What Is Kumon?

Kumon Spokane South Hill is an after-school year round learning program designed to help students develop a solid command of the basics and core skills: the fundamental building blocks of math and reading/language arts. While our curriculum is focused on math and language arts, our educational mission is much larger than any one subject or any one test. Not only will you see improvement in math and language arts proficiency, students will develop and enhance:

• Study Habits
• Confidence, Focus, and Retention
• Goal Setting and Personal Responsibility

Students at Kumon Spokane South Hill are assessed to see where they would enter the curriculum. A learning plan is established so the student progresses at a pace suited to their unique skills and learning style. Ideally, we can challenge the student without overwhelming him or her. Given its individualized nature, Kumon works equally well for remediation and enrichment applications. Students discover – from the day they begin Kumon – that they are capable of more than they ever thought possible.

Due to its emphasis on fundamental mastery achieved through learning by doing, students tend to see more significant results the longer they stay with the program. Although students may withdraw at any time, most success is achieved when parents and students think in terms of at least a 12-month commitment.
